VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL GEOCACHING: ALTERNATIVE GPS-TECHNOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING
INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS IN LANGUAGE HIGH SCHOOLS.

Abstract
. This paper addresses the issue of the peculiarities of introducing promising interactive GPS-
technologies into educational process via virtual educational geocaching promoting the development of intercultural
competence in linguistic high schools. A new trend of educational geocaching is defined as an alternative interactive
form of classes providing the realization of projects with the help of modern navigation systems. According to the
research virtual educational geocaching specifics is in applying professional geographical portals for searching the
information in the Internet. One of the main tasks stated in the paper is defining virtual geocaching potentialities for
studying languages as well as their integration facilities for the educational process that can help greatly in modern
interactive education. Virtual geocaching enables the proper communication introducing new intercultural realities and
their peculiarities while working with the project. It also provides monitoring and systematization within regional
studies subjects. Stating the fact of lacking any integrated development it is quite acute to introduce a versatile model of
educational geocaching. This model integrates two basic blocks: theoretical unifying context and technical components
and practical revealing the peculiarities of organization and realization. The algorithm is structured specifying essential
Internet resources.
