THE SUBJECT "DIGITAL TV" IN THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The article discusses the advantages of digital television compared to analogue, namely the possibility

of implementing a high-definition television (HDTV), the introduction of interactivity and play services, an increase in

the number of television channels. The aim of this work is the presentation of the specific training in disciplines related

to the study of digital television in the Omsk state technical University.

The article considers the main competences of the future specialists:he ability to use in practice skills in

organizing scientific, research, design works; the ability to understand the basic techniques in the field of radio

engineering, to choose methods and means of their solution; ability to operate modern equipment and instruments;

ability to organize and conduct experimental studies with the use of modern tools and techniques.

As an example, consider several virtual labs. One of the main highlighted randomization of packets of the

transport stream, which is performed using a computer model. Research of processes of multiple modulation in digital

television for example method 16-QAM enables students to understand how the increasing speed of information

transfer.

The study of methods of noiseproof coding is considered on the examples of modeling of processes of internal

coding, as well as to study the reed-Solomon code encoding/decoding of images in the presence of channel errors.

Students are encouraged to explore methods of error-correcting coding of information, setting the initial parameters of

the encoder to perform the operation encoding/decoding images for several variants of the introduced errors, and to

determine the maximum number of errors, in which the recovery of the message impossible.

Thus, the technique of laboratory works and practical studies shows the increased interest of students for

problem solving that contributes to extending the range of professional competences in the field of digital television of

the future graduates in the direction of «Radio engineering».
